On January 10, Javier Perianes premieres with the National Orchestra of the Capitol of Toulouse, and under the baton Josep Pons, a new edition of Ravel’s Piano Concerto in Sol, which is published in the Ravel Edition of the Belgian publishing house XXI Music ASBL Publishing. The Ravel Edition is an initiative endorsed by a scientific committee of renowned musicologists and musicians, whose purpose is to publish clean Ravel scores of all kinds of errors and editorial alterations. The first volume, published in November 2018, was dedicated to Bolero and offered for the first time the original version of the 1928 ballet, in addition to the revised edition of the well-known concert version. The second volume corresponds precisely to the Concerto for piano and orchestra and is commissioned by the Orchestra of the Champs Elysees, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Monte Carlo, the National Orchestra of Auvergne and the Orchestra of the Capitol of Toulouse.

It will be precisely the latter that opens the revised version together with Javier Perianes. This version is based on the orchestral manuscript, on the scores of Marguerite Long (who premiered the concert), on tests and sketches of the reduction for two pianos and on scores of other Ravel contemporaries. The committee signing the review includes pianist Cédric Tiberghien, composer Benjamin Attahir and orchestra directors Louis Langrée, Ludovic Morlot, Adrien Perruchon and Pascal Rophé.

The concert will take place tomorrow Friday at the Halle aux grains in Toulouse and the program will be completed with the Spanish Rhapsody and Alborada del Graciosa de Ravel (pieces included, as well as the Concert in sunshine, on the last album of Perianes and Pons: Jeux de miroirs) together with suites 1 and 2 of the Falla Tricorn.
